Dmytro Furdyga and Witalii Konoplenko Took Part in the “Charge and Earn” Forum in Kyiv
Dmytro Furdyga, Executive Director of VOLTAGE Group Ukraine, together with Witalii Konoplenko, Regional Director of VOLTAGE Group, participated in the “Charge and Earn” forum in Kyiv, which gathered leading players of the energy sector. The main focus was on energy storage systems (BESS), grid connection, network design, and construction of storage facilities.

Dmytro Furdyga’s Statement
“This forum was extremely important because it brought together all the key players of the market working on the implementation of energy storage systems (BESS). These technologies are no longer the future – they are becoming reality in Ukraine and across Europe.
According to the latest data, the first BESS projects contracted by Ukrenergo will already enter the market in 2025–2026 . In Europe, the dynamics are even stronger: by 2029 the total capacity of battery energy storage systems is expected to exceed 60 GWh, with an annual growth of 10–20 GWh .
What is particularly significant is that in 2025 Ukrenergo organized special auctions for ancillary services, contracting over 1,058 MW of new flexible capacities, including a large share of BESS projects . These auctions provide long-term contracts and revenue stability for investors.
We also saw real-life examples: OKKO Group is implementing one of the largest projects in Western Ukraine – 22 MW / 44 MWh + 22 MW / 50 MWh of storage capacity . This proves that the market for grid connection and construction of energy storage systems is already moving into the implementation phase.
Of course, the key question is profitability. Market benchmarks show that for a project to be attractive, it must generate around €166,000 per MW annually, which is comparable to Western European markets . This is why BESS is becoming a competitive investment opportunity in Ukraine.
Another important factor is the rapid decline in technology costs. In 2022, LFP battery cells peaked at $153/kWh, while in 2024 the average cost in China dropped to around $53/kWh. Forecasts suggest a further fall to $47/kWh by 2026 . This dramatically improves project economics.
At VOLTAGE Group, we support clients at every stage: from network design, grid connection, and financial modeling, to BESS construction and supply of complete technological solutions. We are already in negotiations with partners in Poland, where we have a dedicated office and engineering team. This allows us to act not only as a designer but also as a comprehensive energy solutions provider.
Energy storage systems are not the future – they are here and now, and they will play a crucial role in ensuring energy stability and supporting the integration of renewables in both Ukraine and Poland.”
