We Should Be Proud of Our Energy Workers
During our studies at VNTU (Faculty of Power Engineering and Electromechanics), my classmates often joked about the subject TOE (Theoretical Foundations of Electrical Engineering) by saying, “That’s how energy engineers get expelled.” Indeed, it was a challenging subject, especially the third part.
However, those who mastered it and dedicated themselves to their chosen profession have recently proven their worth once again on November 23, 2022.
Amid the anger and frustration from the Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure, it’s important not to lose sight of the pride we feel for our Ukrainian energy workers. They have been defending our grid with both courage and professionalism!
No specialists from any other country have the kind of practical experience in dispatching main and distribution power networks that ours do.
In the chaotic conditions of sudden emergencies caused by missile attacks, our energy workers have gained invaluable experience in balancing the power system, understanding operating modes, and all transitional processes from a physics perspective. What are these modes with frequencies in the network of 46-35 Hz? With all nuclear power plant units shut down?
What other countries’ energy workers can only theorize and model, ours have already lived through, restored, and revived successfully. They have managed to restore the energy system within hours, not weeks or months!
We should be proud of our energy workers! We should also remember and respect those who taught and instilled a love for the profession, which saved us from darkness yesterday and confirmed the quality of engineering training.
No matter what happens next, because you can expect anything from a drunk and crazy neighbor, you are incredibly cool!!
Thank you to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for our safety! Thank you to the energy workers for light and warmth!
